Many factions vied for control of Nordock. The Covenant, the Empire, the Evenglari, the Duchy, the Iconians and more all struggled to attain dominance of the world Nordock.
You can visit the Dawn of Nordock Forums, or browse the old L.O.Nordock Forums to see the history there and what it's all been about these last few years. Sadly, both places are now history for Nichneven, who has moved on to Age of Nordock( see the Facebook group! )which is very exciting!
